Happy 2008 Thanksgiving

Well friends and family it is Thanksgiving Day. Thank you to all for love, support and helping to make memories of our everyday lives.

The kitchen is full of good smells and lots of good eats. Gpa put a ringer in the works by now wanting breakfast cooked and wants a lunch packed for him to take. That's my dad. Just trying to roll with the punches.

Hopefully today we get some good pictures to post on the blog.

Love to Des in Afganastan, Love to Amy and Zek in Tenn. and love to Meg up north in the cold country. You are here with us in spirit.

So, back to the cooking. And I am already cleaned up hair done and makeup on. Wow can you imagine that. Looking good and cooking?? That is a first for me!!!!!

Happy Day.........

Thank you dear father for every blessing you give me on this day of celebration. It would take hours to count all the blessings you bestoy on me that sometimes I don't take the time to thank you for. Thank you for Lon and how he has changed the world in which I live. Thank you for his health and talents and giving me a loving caring husband to share my life with. Thank you for my parents who have been there in the bleakest hour and have given me more than just material things. Thank you for Amy and Zek, and watch over them and bless them during their time away from Des. Thank you dear lord for Des who is serving our country and making this world a better place. Keep him safe from harm and bring him home to us when the tour is over. Thank you dear Lord for Sarah and Josh and Dawson and Carson. Bless them as they celebrate this Thanksgiving Day with Terry Wayne who is in for the holiday. Bless Megan as she continues her education and be with her and give her strength as she celebrates today without her family. Bless Buffy and Kyle as they make a new life together full of excitement and experiences. Give them understanding and patience as they learn what it means to be a couple. Bless Lisa, Chris and Trinity and give them love and understanding as they go throught their daily lives. Bless Kasey as he fights fires and keep him from danger. Be a guiding light when danger is near. Bless Sheree, Zach, Ryan and Portia as they make changes in their family. Give them guidance and understanding. Dear Father thank you for the people I work with and their families. Thank you for our government as they try to do what is best for the people of this great country. Be with all the service men and women and their families. Let them see the blessings that each of them have. Be with the sick and homeless on this Thanksgiving Day. Bless all of those who serve in law enforcement, emergency services, the medical field and others who work on this Thanksgiving. They are giving their service to help others. Thank you for the blessing of family, of health, of happiness and of life. Help each of us to be more thankful for small things in our lives. Help us to cast out the darkness that sometimes overwhelms us and put into our lives a light to show us the way. As we open our hearts bring into the joy and caring to be more like you. Be with us as we travel both near and far. Thank you again and again Lord for each and every blessing today and everyday. In your name I pray. Amen

Take time on Thanksgiving to thank someone. Not a family member but someone that smiles at you, that holds a door open, or just someone you meet. Kind words of thank you can never be bought in a store and can bring something special into a life. All of us need a little gentle reminder to look outside the box. I need a sledge hammer to knock me up aside of the head once in a while to look more at the positive than the negative. Blessings of Thanksgiving are all year long, but on Thanksgiving day it is really time to reflect on ALL blessings great and small.

THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING 2008

We are getting there on the kitchen project. It is not completely done but it is now functional so that I can prepare the Thanksgiving feast times 2. Gpa wants to eat about 11:30 so he can get on his road to Oklahoma and then everyone else is going to eat around 4.
The flooring is yet to get done. The soffet above the stove still has to be finished after the fan work is done and vented outside. The cabinets look great. Still have to get the ones by the ceiling on the wall where the table sits and move the white refrig. out that sits by the black one. The pantry cabinet will go there. Trim around the doorway needs to be redone. But, it sure is a far cry from what it was and it just is awesome. Like Dawson said, "Cool kitchen." I was so excited Sunday night to get to cook a complete meal and sit at the table and enjoy eatting it. Lon and I actually had dinner together sitting at the table in our remodeled kitchen. Mark that one on your calendar!!!!
Today is a prep day for tomorrow. I baked 2 glorified pumpkin pies last night along with a plain pumpkin and a choc. one. Baked cupcakes since I know Dawson and Portia like cupcakes. Gma will be here around 10 today to make the dressing and do the deviled eggs. She can sit and do that. Want her to be a part of cooking but there is just so much she can do.
Still have to run the sweeper, clean the bathroom and get the laundry all done. Just going to shut the door on the stomp and crap room as dad calls it because I havent had the time to clean it up. The living room is re-arranged and even Lon likes it. Wow that is unbelievable.
Now for other news, since I have went on and on about the kitchen!!!!
Kyle bought Buffy's engagement ring and from the photos she sent to my phone it is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! She can't have it yet. Kyle is going to put it in Dad's gun cabinet for safe keeping until the romantic time is right. Think we ought to take a pool on when the wedding will be????? Be fun to see who comes the closest!!! They are such a cute couple. They signed their lease on their new apartment and will be moving Jan.1. Hint Hint for people to come help. So, they have many good things in the works and are moving forward with their lives. GOOD FOR THEM!!!!
Carson had his one year old check up and is one ounce from 20 pounds. He is something and wants to be a BIG boy like brother. Lon had Dawson yesterday and had a great time with him after he picked him up from school. Preschool has been a fantastic thing for him. Oh and Dawson pooped 2 times yesterday and Papa Lon had to wipe his butt. It makes Lon gag. Needless to say he doesn't do diapers. LOL!
Amy and Zek are celebrating Thanksgiving with some other women and their children. All the husbands are together in Afganastan. That is awesome that they have a bond. Guess Zek is learning about not teasing Chewy (the puppy). Guess he wants to take Chewy's toys and doesn't understand that Chewy thinks he is playing. Zek will catch on. Meg won't be coming down for dinner tomorrow. She has to work on Friday so we will be glad when Christmas comes and she will be home then. Dad and I miss her so much! We miss Amy and Zek and Des too. I think Kasey will be with Sheree on Thanksgiving but he is now a firefighter and you know like law enforcement and the medical field that it isn't a 9 to 5 job. 24/7 365 days a year. Good for Kasey on getting the job. It is in his heart to be a fireman. Hopefully Triny and Chris will be with Lisa on Thurs.. Be good to see all of them.
So that's about it in a nutshell. Just an quick update and to say I am thankful for such an awesome healthy family. Even with the struggles of our daily lives we have so much to be thankful for. God has truly blessed each and everyone of us.
Till the next post...........God bless America!
