HOUSEWORK AND MORE

THIS IS PORTIA AND DAWSON LOOKING OUT THE DINING ROOM WINDOW AT THEIR DADDIES CLEANING UP THE DOWNED LIMBS FROM THE ICE STORM OF JANUARY 2007

It is a dull and dreary looking day outside. It is misting and foggy and the temp on the thermometer is ranging from 34 to 38. Sure looks as if something will come into the area in a few short hours.
I am doing the usual housecleaning and laundry thing today. Trying to get Buffy's old room cleaned up and things put in plastic tubs and all my craft stuff in the drawers in the chest of drawers. Have a small table that Lon got that will be good for the craft time. IF I EVER GET TIME!!!! Washing laundry and changing all the beds. What a big job. Oh course I am taking little breaks because there is no need to over tax myself.
Need to go get my nails filled. It would probably be wise if I am going to do it today to go real soon, but I just don't want to have to get cleaned up and go to Walmart where the nail place is. It will be a mad house and I don't want to fight the crowds. So it may wait. Thought about if I did go I might get my first pedicure. Never had one and it is hard enough to hold still and relax my hands to get nails done, let alone sit and let them work on my feet. Still have some thinking to do about that.
Lon had a city council meeting this morning. They called him at 7:45 to remind him that it was at 8. You know where he was.....you guessed it still in bed. He hates to be rushed. LOL I thought it was rather funny myself. But, hey I am biased.
He is down working in the garage making something for the recording studio. Not quite sure what they are but if it keeps him busy, go for it. I will take him down a fresh cup of coffee, since a new pot is just finishing up.
Talked with Amy and they took Zek to the ER real early this morning. High fever and they diagnosed him with an ear infection. She really sounded tired when she called. Haven't heard from Sarah, Buffy or Gma today. Megan called and Jason's toe was swollen and very painful. No injury. Told her what I thought it might be and like a stongwilled macho man I am sure he won't go to the ER. What's with men and not wanting to get something done. Oh, I know////// they like to be whine baby's. Just kidding, well maybe half way kidding.
So that's all the news here. Just waiting and watching to see if it gets bad. I will go into withdrawls if I can't take a break and play a game. I might go insane or something. LOL
Time to put the fabric softner on the load in the washer so will sign off for now. I will keep everyone abreast about the storm that is looming in our area. Have a great day and don't forget to stop for a moment and think of all the blessings each one of us have. Man, sometimes we get so focused on how broke we are and how bad our jobs are and the misfortunes of everyday that we don't really appreciate just how blessed and fortunate we are.

THESE ARE PICTURES FROM THE LAST ICE STORM. HOPEFULLY IT WON'T BE BAD..... (THE ICE ON THE TREES, THE BRANCHES THAT WERE SO HEAVY THEY FELL OFF, OUR TORPEDO HEATER THAT KEPT US WARM AND THE GENERATOR TO PROVIDE POWER.)
THEY ARE PREDICTING THAT WE ARE GOING TO GET THE FREEZING RAIN, SLEET AND MIXTURE STARTING ON SAT. NIGHT POSSIBLY. COULD BE SUNDAY. FROM THE WAY THEY TALK IT COULD BE AS BAD OR WORSE THAN THE ICE STORM OF 2006. WE HAVE SUPPLIES IN AND CAN GET TO THE GENERATOR AND TORPEDO HEATER SO WE ARE READY. GETTING THE SHEETS AND BLANKETS WASHED THAT GO TO THE HIDE A BED AND TO BUFFY'S OLD BED. THAT WAY IF WE NEED TO TAKE IN FAMILY WE CAN. THIS TIME I WON'T HAVE TO COOK ON THE GRILL AND THE CAMP STOVE. MY NICE NEW RANGE IS PROPANE SO I CAN COOK AND BAKE JUST FINE.
GMA HAD A GOOD REPORT TODAY FROM THE NEUROLOGIST. THEY ARE CUTTING HER PREDNISONE BACK. THAT IS A WONDERFUL SIGN. WORK WASN'T TOO BAD. I WORE MY JEANS TODAY. I REALLY DIDN'T CARE. HAD A CHRISTMAS SWEATSHIRT ON WITH A BLUE LAB JACKET OVER IT SO IT LOOKED FINE.
MEGAN HAD JASON TAKE HER TO WORK TODAY SINCE THEY GOT SNOW AND FREEZING RAIN UP IN THE NORTH COUNTRY. ARE YOU CRAZY MEGAN? YOU DON'T LIKE COLD NASTY WEATHER AND YOU ARE UP THERE ALMOST TO THE IOWA LINE. MUST ME LOVE!!
AMY SAID THAT ZEK HAD A BAD DEEP COUGH. SHE CALLED GPA ASKING WHAT TO GIVE TO HIM. I TOLD HER TO JUST WAIT IT OUT SINCE WE ARE SEEING SAME THING AT WORK AND 90 PERCENT IS VIRAL. SARAH CALLED LAST NIGHT TO MAKE SURE I MADE IT HOME FINE. SAW BUFFY YESTERDAY BEFORE I WENT TO LUNCH. LON HEARD FROM SHEREE AND THEY GAVE AWAY ALL THE PUPPIES AND LEAH (THE BASSET) TOO I THINK. LISA AND SHEREE'S MOM IS COMING IN FOR CHRISTMAS FOR A WEEK SO I DON'T KNOW WHEN WE WILL DO CHRISTMAS WITH THEM. WOULD LIKE TO SEE PORTIA. THINK SHE IS DOING A LOT BETTER SINCE THEY PUT THE TUBES IN HER EARS.
LON IS IN THE GARAGE. HE SAID HE ALREADY HAS CABIN FEVER. IT IS REALLY NOT EVEN WINTER YET. THEY CANCELLED THEIR RECORDING SESSION FOR THE WEEKEND BECAUSE OF THE PREDICTED STORM COMING. WE ALSO CANCELLED OUR OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY BECAUSE WE WERE AFRAID THAT IT WOULD GET BAD AND STEAK AND ALE WOULD CHARGE US THE 100 DOLLARS FOR THE ROOM IF WE WAITED TILL SUNDAY TO CANCEL. SO LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE A QUIET WEEKEND. HOPEFULLY GET SOME CRAFTING DONE.
WE WILL JUST KEEP AN EYE ON THE WEATHER. MR. STORM MAN/WEATHER MAN (LON) LIVES HERE AND KEEPS ABREAST OF THE WEATHER. HE IS COUNTING THE DAYS TILL TORNADO SEASON! SO LOVE TO ALL AND KEEP WARM AND COZY!

Rain, Sleet and a few flakes of Snow

We got the three forms of liquid today...rain, sleet and a few snow flakes. I came home after lunch because we were afraid that it was going to get bad. So far they are saying a high in the 40's tomorrow but it may be icy when I leave in the morning.
While I was looking for the dictonary tonight I came across a photo album and thought I would put something different in my blog. The one of Megan was at the farm Lon lived at when we first started dating. She put on his rubber boots that he wore in the cattle lot and the straw hat he wore when he was on the tractor brush hogging. She was dancing around and acting silly. It was great. The beagle was Rambo one of Lon's favorites. The one of Lon kissing the cow is just funny. Think that was before I came into the picture. Think he came up a step or two don't you?
Then the third one of him with the long dark wig on is from 1966. Let's see in 1966 I would have been 8 years old. The back of the photo says the LG Trio Halloween 1966 and it is a Club in Oklahoma City. He has played music since he was 12. In high school he had a band that was really popular. At his 40 year high school reunion that we went to before he was married I heard all these wonderful reviews about how he was so cool and how he played for all these dances and parties. The name of the group was Lonnie and the Rebels and I guess they were sort of rebels in the music scene. He even played with Ike and Tina Turner before they were big name stars. Passed a bottle of whiskey around with them. So he really has had some musical experiences.
Going to turn in before long because it may be a real trip in the morning leaving at 6am. Worked some on my gifts to give the people at work for our Christmas Party Sunday night. We might not have it if it gets bad like they are talking about. Will have to wait and see. Gma goes to the neurologist tomorrow. Gpa is taking her there and I will pick her up after I get done with patients. My 1/2 day tomorrow. YEAH!
Oh one more thing. Amy called tonight and said she got B's in all her classes. Told her that was GREAT for being out of school for a long time and being a mom and wife. That's a 3.0! So if you talk to her tell her GOOD JOB because she deserves it!

Mr. Dawson, I will try to get some lights up on the deck, just for you this weekend. He has been saying to his Mom, "Mammy doesn't have any lights up." If that is not motivation I don't know what it would be.
Need to leave by 5:30 this morning to get to work early. Have a lot to do. Hump day. Hope that the Christmas spirit kicks me in the pants and gets me going. lol
Thought for today is....STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY AT WORK AND START DANCING AND MOVING ABOUT, YOUR BOSS AND FELLOW WORKERS WILL THINK YOU HAVE LOST IT AND SEND YOU HOME! THAT'S A WAY TO HAVE A 1/2 OF THE DAY OFF." Think I am trying to find ways to stay home?

DO YOU GET THE PICTURE THAT IT HAS BEEN A BAD DAY? THEY HAVE PUT SOME MORE WORK ON ME AT THE OLE' DOCTOR'S OFFICE. AND IT IS TRUE THAT YOU CAN'T TEACH AN OLD DOG NEW TRICKS. THE OLD DOG IN THIS CASE IS THE DOCTOR WHO WON'T LEARN THE COMPUTER. WITH ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS IT IS REALLY HARD WHEN A DR. WANTS TO DO IT THE OLD PEN AND PAPER WAY AND THEN DICTATE AND HAVE IT TYPED FOR HIM. ENOUGH OF MY BITCHING BUT I HOPE YOU GET THE PICTURE.

NOW FOR THE GOOD POINTS OF THE DAY. HAD LUNCH WITH BUFFY AND THEN WE WENT TO WALGREENS AND SHE BOUGHT THE TOYS FOR HER ANGEL THAT SHE HAD ME GET OFF THE ANGEL TREE AT THE STORE TODAY. I GOT ANOTHER ONE FOR A 5 YEAR OLD GIRL. SHE WANTS BOOKS. OH THAT IS WONDERFUL THAT SHE IS YOUNG AND WANTS BOOKS. SMART GIRL. THE OTHER BRIGHT SPOT TO SPREAD THE NEWS ABOUT IS THAT GRANDMA TOOT DROVE TODAY. FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW IT'S MY MOM. THAT'S WHAT HER GREAT GRANDSONS CALL HER. SHE WENT DOWN THE STAIRS WITH NO TROUBLE WALKED OUT TO THE CAR AND WENT TO TOWN AND DROVE THROUGH AND DROPPED SOMETHING IN THE MAILBOX AND CAME HOME. HURRAY FOR GRANDMA. SHE SAID THAT TOMORROW SHE IS GOING TO THE GROCERY STORE. GOOD FOR HER. I WANT ALL YOU GIRLS TO TELL HER THAT YOU ARE PROUD OF HER. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME SHE HAS DRIVEN IN A LONG LONG TIME. KEEP PRAISING HER AND MAYBE SHE WILL BECOME A LITTLE MORE INDEPENDENT. SAID SHE LOOKED DOWN WHEN SHE WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND SHE WAS DOING 60 OR 65 MPH. LEAD FOOT GMA LOL

OUR OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY IS SUNDAY. I WANT TO DRESS UP AND NOT SURE THAT I CAN FIND ANYTHING THAT FITS ME IN THE CLOSET. EVERYTHING IS TOO BIG. BEEN A HECK OF A LONG TIME SINCE I COULD SAY THAT. OH WELL MAYBE I CAN COME UP WITH SOME CONCOCTION. WE WILL SEE. GOTTA GET IN THE CRAFT MOOD AND WHIP OUT SOMETHING FOR MY FELLOW CO-WORKERS. WE ALL PITCHED IN MONEY FOR THE 2 DOCTORS AND OUR OFFICE MANAGER. THOUGHT ALL THE WAY HOME ABOUT WHAT CRAFT STUFF I HAD HERE THAT I COULD CREATE SOMETHING FOR THEM. BOUGHT THEM ALL A LITTLE CANDLE TODAY BUT IT HAS BEEN MY TRADITION TO MAKE THEM SOMETHING SO THAT'S WHAT I WILL DO IF I HAVE TO STAY UP ALL NIGHT FRIDAY AND SAT NIGHT TO DO IT. HAVE A COUPLE OF IDEAS BUT SURE AS HECK NOT IN THE MOOD TONIGHT TO START THEM. IF SOMETHING WENT WRONG IT JUST MIGHT PUT ME OVER THE EDGE. AND WHAT WOULD EVERYONE DO WITHOUT MOM TO BE THERE FOR THEM? SURE HAVE BEEN HITTING THE BOTTLE OF COFFEE LIQUOR TONIGHT. TASTE REALLY GOOD AND GOING DOWN SMOOTH.......SURE WON'T BE SMOOTH IN THE MORNING BECAUSE I HAVE TO GO IN EARLY. PAPA LON IS TO HAVE HIS COLONOSCOPY ON TUES. THROUGH THE VA BUT INSTEAD OF BEING DONE AT MT. VERNON IT WILL BE AT JOPLIN. WE HAVE TO BE THERE AT 12:30 AND HE IS SCHEDULED FOR 1:30PM. HE IS NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THE PREP. WE KNOW WHERE HE WILL BE ON MONDAY........BATHROOM. I AM TAKING A VACATION DAY ON TUES TO DRIVE HIM BACK. THEY MAY NEED TO GIVE ME SOME VERSED TO EASE MY PAIN. lol

GUESS THAT IS THE UP DATE FOR THE DAY. CARSON IS ONE MONTH AND 3 DAYS OLD. LOVED THE PICTURES ON SARAH'S BLOG. MEGAN GAVE ME NEWS THAT THERE IS A MASTERS PROGRAM IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE ONLINE AT THE UNIVERSITY AT WARRENSBURG SO SHE PLANS ON PURSUING THAT WHEN SHE FINISHES AT TRUMAN. YOU GO GIRL. BUFFY IS GOING TO GET MORE HOURS AT DILLONS WITH THE SEMESTER ENDING AND PEOPLE LEAVING IN PRODUCE AND GROCERY. AMY IS BUSY WITH HANUKA AND FINALS AT SCHOOL. THEY HAVE A BIG HANUKKAH CELEBRATION FRIDAY NIGHT AT HER CHURCH. I WAS TELLING A DRUG REP. TODAY ABOUT CHRISTIAN JEWS. HE WAS REALLY INTERESTED. I'M SURE THE SUCKERS SHE MADE TURNED OUT GREAT AND WERE REALLY CUTE. SARAH CHERISH THESE MOMENTS AND AMY TOO. KIDS GROW UP SO FAST AND BEFORE YOU KNOW IT YOU WILL BE THE MAMMY AND I WILL BE THE GREAT MAMMY.

OUR FAMILY IS SO DIVERSIFIED YET WE ALL BAND TOGETHER AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER AND HAVE SO MUCH LOVE THAT IT MAKES THE BAD DAYS NOT SO BAD. TUESDAY

READY FOR WORK BUT THOUGHT I WOULD POST A COUPLE OR THREE PICTURES FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE. WE HAD DAWSON LAST NIGHT WHILE SARAH RAN AN ERRAND. EASIER FOR HER WITH ONE THAN TWO. DAWSON WAS GOOD AND FULL OF ENERGY. PAPA LON KEPT ROUGHING HIM UP AND HE WOULD COME BACK FOR MORE. THE ONLY TRAGEDY WAS THAT THE OLD MAN LARGE REMOTE QUIT WORKING EVEN WITH NEW BATTERIES. OH MY GOSH! YOU WOULD HAVE THOUGHT IT WAS THE END OF THE EARTH. TO HAVE TO GET UP AND CHANGE THE CHANNELS. UNHEARD OF!!!!! NOT!!!!!!!!!!!! ANYWAY, I AM ON MY WAY IN JUST A SHORT AND GOING TO PICK UP ANOTHER ANGEL OFF THE ANGEL TREE FOR ME AND ONE FOR BUFFY. SHE WANTS TO PARTICIPATE. THAT'S GREAT. HAVE A GOOD ONE!!!! IT IS DECEMBER 2007

Last years Christmas tree. Haven't put this years up!

Happy Dec. everyone. It is the birth month of a few of our family members, but the most important birthday is Jesus. What a great present that was to mankind. It seems that we look over that fact with Christmas each year. The US is so commercialized and we aren't allowing our children to have Christmas caroles or anything to do with religion of any kind in our schools. Our country was founded on One Nation Under GOD. I won't make this a rampage but just take time this season to remember the reason. It was one small baby born long long ago who grew to be a wonderful man that died for us and all our sins. Just keep that close in your heart and mind. Sat. night Dawson saw Santa and he said it best when Santa asked him what he wanted, Dawson replied "A present!" Does that not sum up what Christmas is all about? A single present.

Remember family that we are only buying for the little ones. Don't stress yourself out trying to buy for all of us. Money is tight and we all have the basic necessities maybe not everything we want but we can get by.

Since we got back from Georgia, I have been in the little store in town maybe 4 or 5 times. There is an angel tree from the Christian Ministries of the county there. The tree is a 3 foot one and loaded with angels which have either a boy or girl on them and their age and what they want for Christmas. Every time I walked in this certain angel popped out at me which said "girl, 13 wants a makeup kit." So, when I was at Wal-Mart yesterday morning, I bought the makeup kit and a 4 pack of lip gloss and when I got back home I took it into the store. I don't know the lady working there now, but she said did you have a pizza order. My response was "No, I have a Christmas angel gift." I had taken the angel off the tree and tied it on the package and handed it to her. She said that I was the first one. No one had taken an angel and they have to be turned it by Dec. 9. She said, "bless you." I thought to myself bless Dawson for saying, "A Present." I remember how important makeup is to a teenager, so I feel like it might make a difference. And I can feel good when we go back the day after Christmas at work and everyone is talking about what they got especially from their husband or significant other. Sometimes I always feel slighted since they all have such long lists of stuff. This year I can say, "Doesn't matter, except that I gave an important gift to a child I didn't know and feel good about doing it." That to me is the greatest gift of this Christmas season.

Dawson and I made Christmas cards Friday afternoon. I will get these mailed this week to you our family. He took one to his mommy and daddy. I had Carson on Sat night so Sarah and Josh and Dawson could go look at Christmas lights. He was a little fussy but he sure is a snuggler and like to be close. Papa even came up from the recording studio and held him a while. Papa is a softy where these grandkids are concerned. He still talks about Zek a lot.

Our office Christmas party is this coming Sun night. I don't have a dang thing made for it. Usually I have made something for everyone. Don't know whats wrong with me. I spent a couple of hours with Gma yesterday. Got out the Christmas things for her and will get her tree, (which is a small one I have) put up on Fri or Sat. The blue angel is in the window. Played Christmas caroles on the piano for her for about an hour. That is what she wanted. Drew up the insulin that she takes every night for one month so I don't have to do it weekly. Guess thats about it for now. Gotta get ready for the day ahead. Monday at work, YUK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love to all. May the Christmas spirit bless you this holiday season.
